Thought:
Take a look at Psalm 117 with me this morning. Only 2 verses. My thought is on verse 2--"the truth of the Lord is everlasting! Praise the Lord!" Think about that with me today. I am praising the Lord today because His truth is eternal, A few weeks ago, our pastor preached on Hebrews 13:7-8. Verse 8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, yes, forever." I read that and know it is true, but does it cause me to join the psalmist in praising God.

Think what it would mean if Jesus changed with the times, with the culture, with the whims and fads of man. Could He be our Rock, our Fortress, our Shield? Jesus even told a parable about people who build on sand and those who build on rock. Why should we be praising God because Jesus does not change?

If He changes, His promises are not reliable. And all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ.
If He changes, how am I to be conformed to His image--how can I become like Him when he is always changing? Have you ever been in a situation where they changed the rules in the middle of the game, in the middle of your career, in the middle of a class.

Our souls need a solid rock to cling to. Our hearts need a loving Friend who is always the same. We need to place our trust in someone who is not always changing their mind or modifying the goals. Think about the friend that you can always count on--why? They are trustworthy, they are stable, they are always there, they are dependable. If they promise something, you can count on it. What about those acquaintances that are always changing their minds, always asking something different of your friendship. Or the boss who you try to please but they constantly change the rules or the goals. Frustrating.

Now back to Psalm 117--this morning join me in praising God that the truth of the Lord is eternal--it does not change for earthly culture shifts, fads, whims--it is solid rock. Jesus said that he was the Way, the Truth and the Life. That never changes and for that I praise the Lord.

Blessings
Larry
