Thought:
Pondering Romans 8:14-17 this morning. Those being led by the Spirit of God are sons of God, not slaves, but adopted children permitting us to say Daddy to God. Now think with me about that. God chose to adopt me. If I were looking for someone to adopt, I would not have chosen Larry. Impatient, temper, arrogant, hard headed and stubborn, rebellious. I would have looked for a sweet, obedient, kind and gentle child. What love must the Father have to adopt one like me as His own.
And check this out, we are not just adopted, we are in the will--heirs of the creator of the universe. Better than adoption by any king or even Bill Gates or Elon Musk. And while I don't understand it, we are joint-heirs with Jesus, the Son of God. So when we were adopted, we not only got a loving heavenly Father, we got a brother, Christ the Lord. So when God refers to us as a royal priesthood, we are royalty by adoption.
That is all good news, but read on. If we are to reign with Jesus in glory, we also share in His suffering in the flesh. As James says, for a little while we may encounter various trials, but Jesus has already conquered them and through Him we are more than conquerors. But these temporary trials are no comparison for the glory to come. Our hope is anchored with Him in heaven and one day the trials will end and the eternity will be glory. Now that is a reason to live for Him today.
Blessings
Larry
