Thought:
Reading Romans 6:1-11 today. Paul reminds us that if we have been baptized into Christ, we have been baptized into His death and raised with Him from death to walk in newness of life. And if we are united with Him in the likeness of His death, we will share with Him in the likeness of His resurrection. [6:4-5]. Most of the time when I read this, I think about resurrection from the grave--meeting Christ in the air, new resurrection body. And all of that is certainly true. He walked out of the grave alive forever. He will call us to Himself and we will live with Him forever in that place He has prepared for us. Today, I am focused on 6:8-11.

If we have died with Jesus and been raised with Jesus, then we will live with Jesus. Yes, we will live with Him in eternity, but I think this means more than that. Look at verse 10--having defeated death, the life Christ lives is to God. And so we consider ourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ. So having been raised with Christ when He saved me and freed me from the power of sin, I am to live to God now! Christ in me lives to the glory of God today. But I must continually take up my cross, die to self and allow Him to live in and through me. So, while a day will come when I will be raised with Him, in Christ I am already a new creature, created for good works in Christ.

This makes me ask, do I live like a new person in Christ? Do I allow Him to guide, direct, master my life. This morning do I need to get hammer and nails and nail some of my old self to the cross I carry for Him. If I have been buried into the likeness of His death and raised in the likeness of His resurrection, then I should live just like He lived and is living--for the glory and honor of the Father.

Blessings
Larry
