Thought:
When thinking of miracles that led me back to Joshua, the passage on my mind was in chapter 3. Joshua tells the people to prepare to cross the Jordan. He tells them to follow the priests with the ark. He tells the priests to stand still in the Jordan. And then he tells the people, "By this you shall know that the living God is among you . . .when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord of all the earth shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off." [3:10-13] When looking at Jesus' miracles, we talked about the faith of the centurion and the faith of the friends who lowered the paralytic, and the faith of the woman with the issue of blood. Here we see active faith. The priests had to step into the Jordan for the waters to stop. They had to get their feet wet. If they simply walked to the edge, the water would have continued to flow. They had to step in.

Reminds me of that scene from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." His father has been shot, and now Indy stands on the edge of the deep chasm looking across at the door on the other side. He lifts his foot and steps out into what appears to be nothingness. And then his foot hits something solid, yet unseen. Faith is the substance of things unseen. There is a narrow path across the chasm, but it is only accessible by faith.

Today, I am wondering where God wants me to step out in faith. Do I need to share the gospel. Do I need to take on a service project. Do I need to take a chance on a relationship He is leading me to? Perhaps God is waiting to do His miracle until I step into the water. Jesus could have healed the paralytic while he was on the roof. He could have healed the woman without her crawling to touch Him. What is the Lord calling me to do that will release His power, grace, mercy, love. Lord, help my faith.

Blessings
Larry
