Thought:
Still looking at Revelation 4-5 this morning--consider with me the five songs or sayings given in these chapters and make them your song of praise for this morning.
  • The four living creatures say [4:8]
    • Holy is the Lord God, the Almighty
    • Who was, and is and is to come.
    • The Lord is holy and all powerful
    • The Lord has always been, is with me today, and will be coming in the future
  • The 24 elders say [4:11]
    • Worthy is the Lord our God
    • Worthy to receive all glory, honor and power
    • Because You created everything--You are the only thing not created
    • Today, the Lord is the only One worthy to receive glory, honor and power--no other person or thing is worthy because only He created all things
  • The 24 elders sing a new song [5:9]
    • Worthy is Jesus to break the seal and open the book--no one else can because He is the only One who bought those listed in the Book with His own blood.
    • He is worthy because He transformed us from enemies and aliens to acitizens of His kingdom and priests of the Most High God.
    • He wrote the names in the Lamb's Book of Life; He will reveal those names when the Book is opened. We are sealed by His blood and held in His hand.
  • All of heaven sings [5:12]
    • Worthy is the Lamb to receive all power, riches, wisdom, might, honor and glory and blessing. 
    • He is worthy to receive everything--note there are seven things listed representing fullness, completeness, everything. 
    • He is worthy because He was faithful unto death.
  • All in heaven and on earth sing [5:13]
    • The One on the throne and the Lamb be blessed with honor and glory and dominion forever. 
    • Our King and Savior lives forever in honor and glory. 
Notice how the songs of praise grow from the 4 living creatures to everything on heaven and earth. The praises now sung in heaven will one day be the song of heaven and earth--He is worthy! He is holy! 

Today, begin singing these songs with our voices and with our lives--the Lord we serve is Holy and Worthy of all praise, glory and honor.
