Thought:
WOW! I underlined 2 Peter 1:4. Take a look at 1:3-4 this morning.
  • God's power has provided to us everything needed for life and godliness.  Yesterday we were thinking about the devil prowling around. Today I am reminded that Jesus is my sufficiency and nothing the devil can offer is needed.
    • Everything needed for life---Jesus gives abundant life. There is life in no other. He transfers us from the kingdom of death to the kingdom of life. So anything that the devil says I need to live or really live is a lie. Jesus is life.
    • Everything needed for godliness---Jesus in us our hope of glory. Christ on the throne of my life leads to godliness. My problem is not knowing what is right, it is allowing Jesus to control every aspect of my mind and body. With Him in control--godliness follows.
    • He has the power--is anything too difficult for God? Is there anything His power cannot handle? No! So when He promises that He provides everything for life and godliness I know He has the power to deliver on that promise.
    • How does he provide all we need?
      • By knowing Him. [1:3] As children, we really knew our parents. And we knew that they would provide everything we needed for life. We depended on them and trusted them. So we could sleep easily and secure. Today God invites us to know Him and in knowing Him too find that He loves us, cares for us, provides for us, is with us. And in Him we find all we need.
      • Through His promises. [1:4]. Think about His promises--magnificent and precious. When I begin to think about things I really need, God's words to Moses echo in my ear--I am. And then I read John's gospel and find Jesus giving us that same message--I am.--the way, the truth, the life, the bread, the living water, the light, the door, the resurrection and life. Whatever I really need, He supplies.
Praise God for His power, His provision, His promises. As Peter says, by them we can partake of His divine nature and escape the corruption of the world. The divine nature--eternal life with Him; godliness to escape the corruption of the world.

Blessings
Larry
