Thought:
Now Peter told us yesterday how we respond to trials. Well, no good deed goes unpunished. So when we react by seeking harmony, showing sympathy, acting brotherly,  being kind and humble, and blessing rather than cursing, we may still suffer or may suffer more. So read 1 Peter 3: 14-17. If you suffer for doing right, know that:
  • You are blessed [3:14]. The world may not bless you but God does. And that is the blessing that matters.
  • Don't fear [3:14]. Don't let them intimidate you. One of the weapons of satan is intimidation---the threat of harm, the threat of loss of property, job, position, respect, honor. The size of the opposition-physically, financially. Jesus says--He that is for you is greater than he who is against you.
  • Don't be troubled or anxious. [3:14. He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him. We keep our eyes on Jesus, He is our hope, sufficiency, strength. He is our peace and joy.
  • Set apart Jesus in your heart. [3:15] Think about that. When troubled--set your heart and mind on Jesus and His promises.
  • Now if in the face of trials, persecution, attack, intimidation, you react without fear, doubt, anxiety--what will someone ask? --How do you do that? So we are always ready to give an account of the hope we have in Jesus. [3:15] When they say, you seem so calm, so relaxed. You seem unworried. You seem to have a good attitude, a joyful spirit, a peace that is incomprehensible---we say "JESUS." Now notice--we don't say "Jesus" in anger, in threat. We don't say and my Jesus will get you. We speak with gentleness and reverence. Trials give us opportunity to share Jesus with people we will never meet again. Be ready.
Blessings
Larry
