Reading Hebrews 11:5-6 today. Enoch was the father of Methuselah. The Bible has little to say about him--he lived before the flood; he lived 365 years; he walked with God; then He was not because God took him. [Genesis 5:21-24].  Hebrews tells us he did not see death because he was pleasing to God. Think about that for a moment. How would you like it if all that could be said when you leave this world is what was said of Enoch--Larry walked with God and was pleasing to Him. Larry did not die but lives. That is our future in Christ--not because we do everything pleasing to God, but because Jesus did.

Now why would Enoch be listed in the roll call of the faithful? I think verse 6 tells us the answer--Enoch believed that God is and that He rewards those who seek Him. Again, this sounds like us. We believe that God is--we believe that Jesus is God. We seek God with all our hearts, souls, mind and strength. And by faith, we will be taken up at Christ return. We believe that all of God's promises are true. We live in reliance on them by faith. And we trust God's promises of a reward--eternal life with Christ in a place we call heaven. Jesus told his followers, those that believe in Me will never die. So while our bodies fail and die, we live like Enoch.

This morning, think for a few minutes about what you believe about God--who is He to you; what is His character like; what are His promises---then join me in asking yourself--does my walk give evidence of what I believe about God? Then join me in praising Him for who He is and what He has done and thank Him for His many promises--all of them are yes and amen in Jesus.

Blessings
Larry
