Thought:
Well, I thought I had finished 1 Thessalonians yesterday, but one more verse caught my attention. "Faithful is He who calls you and He will bring it to pass." [5:24]

Reading all the applications from yesterday made me feel inadequate, unproductive. As I examine where I am and compared it to Paul's instructions, I find a lot of room for improvement. This verse is an assurance and a promise that I need to recall every day.

  • He is faithful. Every promise is true and I can secure my life on His promises. He never fails. He has the power and authority to do all He has said He will do. My future and hope, my joy and my peace, my today and my tomorrow all are secure and real because He is faithful.
  • He has called us. From darkness into light, from rebellion into family, from hopeless into hope, from death into life. I accepted His call and now live on the assurance that He who called is faithful.
  • He will bring it to pass. Because God spoke it, because Christ promised it, because the Spirit guarantees it, it has already happened---I just have not seen it yet. So that is faith--the substance of things unseen. I know it is real and know it is true through faith even though I might not have experienced it yet. I live in a state of confidence--confident that He who began a good work will complete it. Confident that He who defeated death and the grave can give me that same victory.
What great news! He is faithful, He is able, He is sufficient, He is omnipotent. And I sing,"The Lord God Omnipotent reigneth. Hallelujah! And He shall reign forever and ever! King of kings and Lord of lords. Hallelujah!"

Blessings
Larry
