Thought:
Do you ever feel inadequate? You are asked to serve, but feel uneducated, inexperienced, inadequate. You feel called and answer, but when you start trying to lead, to teach, to share, someone whispers in your ear, you can't do this. Look at 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 today.  We are confident in our relationship with God through Christ; BUT we know that our confidence cannot be in ourselves. All our adequacy is from God.

What does this say to me today?
  • I am inadequate to do anything to serve God in my own worth, my own strength, my own value. That is a downer. But if I was adequate to serve God in any way in my own strength and on my own worth, then I would have something to boast about; I could take pride in my value, worth, strength. But since I am totally inadequate, I must join with Paul--I can boast only in the cross of Christ.
  • My adequacy comes from God in and through Jesus. Now here is the good news. My adequacy comes from the creator of the universe--so I always have sufficient power. My adequacy comes from the One who is love---so I always have sufficient love. My wisdom comes from Him who is wisdom---so I always have sufficient wisdom. My joy and peace come from the source of all joy and the Prince of all Peace--so I always have sufficiency in joy and peace. And now the even better news--my God does not stop at adequacy--He gives exceedingly abundantly above all I could ask or think.
Today, when God calls on me to love, forgive, extend grace and mercy. When God calls on me to serve or lead. I can move forward in faith because He is my sufficiency.  We join with Paul in saying, "we can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Blessings
Larry
