Thought:
Take a look at Romans 15:13 today. Here is a prayer we can pray for each other.
  • May the God of hope--what a place to start. God is a God of hope. Without Him, there is no hope for we are truly sinners in the hands of an angry God. What does that mean for today? People who do not know God have no hope! Wow! Today, we will meet many people who are living without hope. And we know the God of all hope, the God who gives hope. The other thing I notice is that this is an exclusive claim--there is hope in no one else--only Jesus gives us hope. So just as people look for love in all the wrong places, they look for hope in the wrong places too--wealth, security, armies, politicians, career.
  • God wants us to abound in hope. God never gives sparingly--He gives abundantly and He wants us to have abundant hope, a certain hope, a hope that will never disappoint.
  • Abounding hope comes from the Holy Spirit filling us with joy and peace in believing. Believing and trusting God's promises gives us joy and peace. We rejoice in what God has done, is doing and will do. We have peace knowing that all the promises of God are yes and amen in Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives us peace by reminding us of everything Jesus said and did and by giving us strength to endure.
  • And our hope gives us joy and peace. Knowing that our hopes are secure, anchored by Christ in heaven, we have abundant joy and peace that passes understanding.
So today, pray for your friends that the God of all hope would fill them with joy and peace resulting in hope. And that certain of their hope, their joy and peace would be full. You know someone who is struggling--bad diagnosis, healing going too slowly, prayers seem unanswered, family relationships strained, bodies wearing out. We have a blessed and assured hope in Christ. That should give us joy and peace. And abundant joy and perfect peace amid the trials of this life should give us renewed hope every day. Pray for your friends this morning.

And if you are struggling this morning. If you are having trouble finding joy an peace. If circumstances are robbing your hope, turn to Jesus and His word. In Him you have a hope that cannot be taken, a hope that will not fail, a hope that is secure, bought with the blood of Christ. And because you have hope, we can live with joy and peace.

Blessings
Larry
