Thought:
Reading John 14:1 this morning. Do you ever have a troubled heart? Do you every worry or doubt? Does your faith fade in the face of some terrible event or circumstance? Jesus recognizes that we may have troubled hearts. The disciples had been told again of His imminent death--Jesus was going away. This disturbed, frightened, worried the disciples. What are we going to do?

The simplicity of Jesus cure for a troubled heart is amazing. Believe in Me. There it is. Want to overcome doubt, fear, anxiety, worry--believe in Me. Want a steadfast heart, a courageous heart, a full heart--believe in Me. What does Jesus tell them/us to believe?
  • He has prepared a place for me. This life is not the end. Physical death my terminate this life, but there is an eternity before us. This world is a temporary place for we are aliens passing through. there is a permanent place awaiting us. And not just any place--this place has been specifically prepared for us. The one who prepared it knows us completely because He created us. So He has made a special place that exactly and precisely meets my eternal needs. No illness, no injury, no sadness, no tears, no darkness, no wants--perfect.
  • He will come and personally escort us to the place He has prepared. Think about that. We won't get lost on the way. We don't need to rely on GPS or map reading--He will come and get us and take us there. We have all been there--someone is trying to give us directions. We mumble and look around and they realize--he doesn't get it. So they say, come with me, I'll take you there, I'll show you the way. Jesus has already told them that He is the Way. Now He promises to come and take them the right Way. And in 14:5 He will repeat that He is the Way.
  • He will stay with us in the place He has prepared. He might have left the disciples now, but when they get to that place He has prepared, He will always be right there. No more separation. Have you ever watched children with separation anxiety? We don't comfort them by saying you'll be home in a moment--we comfort them by saying Mommy and Daddy are coming to get you. The child is not concerned about the place--they are concerned that Mommy and Daddy are there. So we don't have to be concerned about where heaven is, we just know that He is there.
Got a troubled heart today--believe in Him. He has prepared a place for you; He is coming to get you and take you there; He will be with your there forever. Do not be troubled--The Truth has spoken.

Blessings
Larry
