Thought:
Reading Psalm 2 today.  Consider the question in 2:1 and the response in 2:4. Here the psalmist asks, why are the nations and their leaders in an uproar trying to devise plans to defeat the Lord's Anointed? And the Lord's response is to scoff. Notice how 2:1 calls the uproar a "vain" thing." Something that will not work. We see this today as people ignore, challenge and dispute the clear teaching of God's Word. God has spoken. The issue is settled. Nothing man can say or do will change the outcome for the Almighty has the power to accomplish whatever He has proclaimed.

God has announced what He requires. He has clearly stated the ways to holiness. Yet, men and nations try to redefined His definitions for love, marriage, life. The problem is that He is not changing, He is not deceived--the deception is in us.

Now today, this passage forces me to look at myself and consider that question. Why do I plan vain things--do and say and think things I know are not acceptable to the Lord, but because the world thinks they are not all that bad, I begin to think they are really okay. Perhaps God did not really mean it; perhaps we have misinterpreted the word; perhaps men erred when they chose which books to include in the Canon. I believe, I have a feeling, I sense that a loving God could not really have meant what He says. He didn't mean that the only marriage could be between a man and a woman. He didn't really mean that husbands should love their wives like He loves His church--fully, sacrificially, eternally. He really didn't mean that wives should be submissive or that children should honor parents.

Larry, stop coming up with vain plans that are contrary to God's word. He blesses those that take refuge in Him [2:12]. but He scoffs at those who think they have a better idea.

Blessings
Larry
