Thought:
Reading 1 Corinthians 8:6 this morning. What a powerful statement from Paul. We exist for God and we exist through Christ. WOW! Maybe that is all I really need to know today.

God is the creator of all things including me. Thus, I exist for Him. When I remember that, it changes how I think, how I act, my goals and aspirations. My reason for existence to to serve Him. The Westminster Catechism's first entry is "What is the chief end of man"" and the answer is "to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever." God had a purpose when He created me. Finding that purpose and pursuing it with all my heart, soul, mind and strength is the reason I exist.

Christ is the life source for my existence. Before Christ, I was created but dead in my sin. Now, in Him I am alive, so I live through Him. Jesus said He came to give life and to give it abundantly ---- so living through Him, I enjoy the abundant life, His riches, His sufficiency. In the great hymn that begins Paul's letter to the Colossians, we read that:
  • Jesus is the creator of all things. For John tells us that in the beginning was the word.
  • All things were created for Him.
  • He is before all things.
  • He holds everything together--me, my marriage, my family, my church, my nation, the world. Without Him, everything is chaos.
  • He is the head of the church--not the pastor, not the elders, not the teachers--it is Jesus.
  • He is the first born from the dead. Praise God! He conquered sin and death and is my living hope.
  • All the fulness of God dwells in Him. He is God.
  • He is the reconciler and peacemaker between rebellious Larry and God through His shed blood.
  • He will present us blameless to the Father, covered by His righteousness, not ours.
And Pauls summarizes this is Romans 11:36--from Him and through Him, and to Him are all things. Our existence and life is from Him. We live today through Him, and we are headed to Him for eternity.

Blessings
Larry
